Makena Encarnacion (President), is a Junior at Don Antonio Lugo High School in Chino, CA. She is involved in ASB, currently serving as Class President and has been captain of the girls varsity basketball team. She is involved in the Hearts & Heroes Friendship Club for students with special needs, and she is a volunteer in the children’s ministry at Vantage Point Church. Makena has participated in multiple Home Run Heroes events. She has also traveled with the One Desk Foundation for a project in Japan. Makena feels blessed to be part of the upcoming Honduras Flowers Bay project and looks forward to spending time with the local children. Makena plans to go to medical school to become a pediatrician. She dreams of making this world a better place by serving others and instilling the values and lessons that she has gained from the One Desk Foundation.
Executive Officers
Luke Biesinger (Vice President), is a junior at Walt Whitman High School in Maryland. He is dedicated to working
with children to inspire enthusiasm for learning and excellence. Starting in volunteer positions in middle
school, Luke has grown to become an experienced martial arts instructor and swim coach focused on
developing skills and enjoyment for these sports in others. He is also a competitive year-round swimmer
on multiple swim teams and martial arts athlete invested in the advancement of his own skills.
Academically, he is pursuing his love for marine sciences and marine biology with involvement in related
coursework, extracurricular activities, and personal projects. Luke hopes to share his passions and
energy through continued service to others.
Cassie Arakawa (Secretary), is a student at Julius West Middle School, a shortstop on the
Rockville Rampage Softball team, and loves to draw and snowboard. She has a big heart and
has one goal in life – to help others in need. Cassie is instrumental in organizing domestic
programs for One Desk with the Washington Nationals and the Washington Mystics. She has a
small business selling hand made products including stickers (@madebycassie) and the stickers
are a big hit with the villagers of the communities that we visit.
Ayana Johnson (Treasurer), Ayana Johnson is a second-year studying architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Ayana is focused on achieving success at the highest level and looks forward to receiving her B.Arch degree in a few short years. During the week, you can find Ayana at the beach, spending hours designing projects, and hanging out with friends. Before joining One Desk, Ayana attended Mater Dei High School and was a team captain of the varsity girls’ basketball team. Throughout her time at Mater Dei, she maintained the honor roll and graduated summa cum laude. In addition to this, she also captured two CIF championships and received second-team honors in her senior year. Outside of her academic and athletic endeavors, Ayana enjoys reading mystery books, binging Netflix, and spending time with her parents.
